HOW TO ADD MICROSOFT AUTHENTICATOR AS SIGN-IN METHOD FOR MFA


You can install the Microsoft Authenticator on any android or IOS device by scanning the respective QR codes below. 


Note: This [MOBILE PHONE] markers are indicators that the step are to be done on your mobile phone. Otherwise, they’re done on your laptop using a browser.



Installing the Microsoft Authenticator App on your phone


  1. [MOBILE PHONE] On your mobile phone, launch the camera and scan these QR codes below dependent on whether it’s an Iphone or Android phone.


     ·         FOR ANDROID PHONES


 

   OR you can download and install the app from Google Play Store


   


·         FOR IOS / APPLE PHONES



  OR you can download and install the app from Apple App Store

   

  


   


  1. Like any other app, follow the on-screen app installation steps and complete the installation.



Setting up the Microsoft Authenticator App with your Competenz Account


After successfully installing the app, you then need to set it to your account.



  1. Open this site https://mysignins.microsoft.com/security-info from your computer.


  2. When prompted, login with your email credentials.


  3. Click on + Add sign-in method




  1. Select “Authenticator App” on the drop down menu and click “Add”.




  1. There will be guide to install the Authenticator App but since you’ve already done it following aforementioned QR codes , you can just click NEXT.



  1. Click NEXT on this step.



 


  1. On this step, get your phone to scan the QR code that is showing on your computer. DO NOT CLICK NEXT just yet. Next steps are done your phone. Stay on this page on your laptop until you reach step 11.


 


  1. [MOBILE PHONE] On your phone, open the newly installed Microsoft Authenticator app -> click on the +button on the upper right corner of the app.



  1. [MOBILE PHONE] Still on your phone, click on the “Work or school account” -> Scan QR code




  1. [MOBILE PHONE] Scan the QR code on step #7.


  1. You can now click NEXT on this screen from step #7.




  1. [MOBILE PHONE] After successfully adding it, you should be prompted on the phone to allow the access and will be completed after you tap it on the phone.
